Our Apprentice Doula Program in Cincinnati, Ohio was created for compassionate individuals who are ready to begin their journey into birth work while receiving guidance from experienced doulas, childbirth educators, and maternal wellness professionals.
This program offers aspiring doulas the opportunity to learn evidence-based care, emotional support skills, advocacy, labor support techniques, postpartum fundamentals, and professional development within a collaborative and heart-centered environment.

Our What is an Apprentice Doula?An apprentice doula is a doula-in-training who is actively learning how to provide professional birth and postpartum support through mentorship, observation, education, and hands-on experience.
At Nurture, our apprentice doulas work alongside experienced birth professionals to develop the practical and emotional skills needed to support growing families with confidence and compassion.
Throughout the program, apprentices gain experience in:
Birth doula support
Labor comfort measures
Emotional & Evidence-based support during pregnancy and birth
Communication and advocacy skills
Clinical reasoning and skills training within a doula’s scope of practice
Professional doula ethics and boundaries
Client communication and documentation

What You’ll Learn

Learn the role of the doula, the philosophy of family-centered care, and the foundations of evidence-based labor support.

Explore prenatal education, emotional wellness, client communication, and ways doulas support families during pregnancy, with the support of your preceptor.

Gain hands-on experience with positioning, breathing techniques, relaxation support, labor coping strategies, and birth advocacy with the guidance and support of your preceptor.

Understand and know how to effectively support the emotional transition into parenthood and how calming presence, regulation, and connection impact birth experiences.

Learn the foundations of professional doula charting, client communication, and documentation practices that support continuity of care, organization, professionalism, and collaborative support within the birth and postpartum space.
