The First 40 Days: An Ayurvedic Approach to Postpartum Recovery

  • Nurture 3443 Edwards Road Cincinnati, OH, 45208 United States (map)
Food, rest & simple traditions for a supported postpartum recovery So much time is spent preparing for birth—but what about the weeks that come after? The first 40 days after birth are a unique season of healing, adjustment, and bonding. This class will help you think ahead about how you want to be fed, rested, cared for, and supported once your baby is here.

Led by one of Nurture’s Ayurveda-certified postpartum doulas, we’ll share simple, time-honored postpartum practices through a practical, modern lens. You don’t need to know anything about Ayurveda to join us—just come ready to think differently about how we care for new mothers.

We’ll talk about:

• The first 40 days and why this window of postpartum recovery deserves special care
• What to eat postpartum, including warming, nourishing meals and recipes
• Rest, warmth, and simple daily rhythms that can make the early weeks feel more supported
• Postpartum comfort and body care, including an introduction to belly binding
• Self-massage and simple nurturing practices
• Preparing your home and support system for a more restful postpartum
• Practical ways your partner, family, and friends can care for you, too

You’ll leave with recipes, ideas you can actually use at home, and a new way of thinking about preparing for postpartum—not just preparing for baby.

Investment: $30 per person
Length: 90 minutes

Perfect for expecting parents at any stage of pregnancy. Partners and support people are welcome, too.
