Connected at the Heart: Meet Our Team

Meet Brittni O’Connor: Doula, Educator, Mother of Three, and Heart Behind Nurtured Postpartum

I first met Brittni almost ten years ago, when she walked into one of my CAPPA doula trainings. From the moment we started talking, I felt an instant connection with her — that spark you get when you know someone’s heart is in the right place and their calling is aligned with their soul. She absorbed the training like a sponge, asking thoughtful questions, and sharing openly about her love for supporting families.

Fast forward several years, and it’s such a gift to have Brittni as part of what Nurture is today — not only as a postpartum doula but as a leader, educator, and community builder. Watching her grow into her role has been one of those full-circle moments that makes this work so rewarding.

Brittni’s journey into motherhood — and into this work — is deeply personal. She became a mom to preemie twins who spent weeks in the NICU. She navigated the emotional rollercoaster of medical complexities, the physical demands of recovery, and the invisible weight of those early days when life feels both miraculous and overwhelming.

That experience gave her not just empathy, but embodied understanding of what new mothers go through — and it shaped her passion for walking alongside other women in those tender first months.

Later, Brittni welcomed her third baby, a full-term singleton, and once again saw firsthand how each postpartum experience is different, even for the same mother. Those lived experiences now fuel her work as a Postpartum Doula and leader of our Nurtured Postpartum Play Groups here at Nurture.

Her professional background is just as impressive — trained through both CAPPA and Childbirth International, Brittni blends evidence-based knowledge with intuition, humor, and compassion. She’s also an Early Childhood Educator with years of experience as a professional nanny and preschool teacher, giving her a deep understanding of family dynamics, child development, and the emotional needs of both parents and little ones.

What I admire most about Brittni is her philosophy: she truly believes that how we care for mothers teaches our children how to care for others — and that those early days of parenthood are about much more than just sleep schedules.

She is fiercely committed to helping mothers feel seen, supported, and powerful, while also holding space for generational healing and building a softer, more connected future for families.

Outside of her doula and facilitator roles, Brittni can often be found crafting with her kids, nature-watching with her husband, sipping a fancy mocktail, or (as she admits) knee-deep in her latest overambitious organizing spree. She lives in Terrace Park with her family, where she’s continuing to build community, chase the light, and honor the messy, magical, in-between moments of motherhood.

Brittni’s work is an incredible example of what happens when passion, personal experience, and professional training meet — and I couldn’t be more grateful that she’s a part of Nurture.
